SUNY Ulster has enough fortitude to hold off Westchester despite not having their "A" game.
Becca Leach once again led the offensive assault with 8 of the teams 23 kills. With their passing off the mark Ulster has trouble getting their offense going. Instead they used hustle and perseverance to come home with the victory.
Ulster won 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-21). They are now at 4-1 in the Mid Hudson conference and 6-1 overall.
Ulster seemed on the ropes in the first set dropping down 11-6. A rowdy crowd was starting to gain momentum but a 8 point Ulster run silenced them for the set.
Despite not having a great day on offense or serving the Senators kept it together and showed they can win even on an off day.
Lauren Mahany contributed 14 assists and 4 kills while Elizabeth (Libby) Scott added 3 aces and
Mary Sommer pitches in with 3 kills and 6 digs.
Ulster hosts two home matches next week. Tue 10/1 sees Sullivan coming to town followed up by Orange on Thur 10/3.
