Box Score Lauren Mahany led the way offensively with 10 kills as SUNY Ulster swept SUNY Sullivan 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-20). Mahany also chipped in with great passing, 6 digs on defense and 2 aces.
Setting up those kills for Mahany was
Mary Sommer. Sommer registered 20 assists and also contributed on the offensive end (4 kills), serving (2 Aces) and defensively (9 digs) to help the Senators get their first victory of the season.
Ulster jumped out to leads in every set but continued to let Sullivan back. Fortunately the Senators were able to complete the sweep but the team will be working on focus and closing out sets at upcoming practices.
Other Senators contributing to the victory were
Victoria Somer (4 kills, 9 Digs), Becca Leach (4 kills, 1 block) and
Lexi Klinger who contributed steady passing and 8 digs from the Libero position.
With the win the Senators are now 1-1 both in Mid Hudson Conference and overall. Sullivan drops to 0-2.
SUNY Ulster Volleyball has a busy week with 4 matches in the next 8 days. They are home on Sunday 9/15/19 at noon to take on the Culinary Institute. On Tue 9/17/19 they travel to Middletown to take on conference rival SUNY Orange at 7pm. Thursday 9/19/19 brings Dutchess Community College to the Senate gym at 7pm for another conference match and finally on Friday 9/20/19 the team travels to Bronx Community College to end a long week.
