Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

SUNY Ulster Men's Soccer Earn Region XV Draw with ASA College

Kingston, NY --  Edgar Garcia scored a late goal in regulation to earn SUNY Ulster Men's Soccer a draw with Region XV perennial powerhouse ASA College.

On a chilly Monday night at Dietz Stadium, SUNY Ulster and ASA College found themselves in a tightly contested match.  Action was back-and-forth from start to finish and early on, it was evident that SUNY Ulster's Justin Dunikowski (Wallkill) was ready to steal the show.  The goalkeeper made 7 game-changing stops, none bigger than in 60th minute when he made back-to-back sprawling saves to keep the match level.

"Justin was unbelievable tonight," said Senators Head Coach, Jamal Lis-Simmons.  "His play kept us in the game and helped give us energy to get a result out of the match."

ASA would ultimately find a way to beat Dunikowski late on with a 78th minute goal from DeAndre Gordon.  It would take a special strike to beat the Senator's keeper on the night and Gordon's top corner strike from 20 yards out did just that.

SUNY Ulster would not back down from the fight.  Just 4 minutes later, Edgar Garcia (FDR) would find space in the box after Andy Lopez (Kingston) flicked a header into space.  Garcia took his opportunity and leveled the match with only 8 minutes left in regulation to force an overtime period at Dietz Stadium.

Eventually, nothing would come of the overtime stanzas and the teams would be forced to share the points. ASA out shot Ulster 17-10 (8-6 on goal) in the match. Ulster would take an edge in corner kicks, 5-3. Ulster's record now stands at 3-3-2 overall and 2-0 in conference.  ASA is now 0-4-1.

SUNY Ulster is back in action for a non-conference road trip to USMAPS on Thursday and return home on Saturday, September 28 as Rowan College of Burlington County will visit Dietz Stadium for a 4:00 pm kickoff.
