Box Score SUNY Ulster Volleyball defeated SUNY Orange 3-0 to improve their record to 3-1 in the Mid Hudson Conference and Overall. The Senators took the match 25-19, 25-19 and 28-26.
SUNY Ulster never trailed in the first set.
Angela Mayer put away 9 kills and Alex Maher added 11 digs. They played well from start to finish allowing Orange little room to do much on the offensive end.
Orange jumped out to a 8-3 lead in the second set. After a time out, the Senators came back and dominated the rest of the set.
Julia Barnett had her best offensive output of the year so far and recorded 5 kills. Emme Ijiogbe also added 11 assists and
Alana Logan had three blocks.
The third set was a battle.
Hannah Ortman stepped up and made several great defensive plays. Down 24-23,
Adrianna Decker made some key serves to put SUNY Ulster
ahead. Decker also recorded 3 kills and 1 block in this set, both personal season highs.
Despite some brief lapses The Senators showed off their best in this match.
Angela Mayer finishedand with 21 kills, to go along with her spectacular serve reception, 7 digs and 3 aces. Alex Maher, playing her first match at libero, added 27 digs and was a steady presence in the back court all night.
Julia Barnett really opened up her offense last night putting away 12 kills to go along with her always steady passing and 10 digs.
Hannah Ortman also hadded 10 digs in the victory.
Emma Ijiogbe let the way with 32 assists but also added 4 kills, and 9 digs.
The Senator's have a huge week coming up. They have three home matches starting with Monday 10/4 vs SUNY Westchester. They then host
SUNY Rockland on Tuesday 10/5 and SUNY Dutchess on Thursday 10/7. All matches begin at 7pm.
