John Boland has been named Head Baseball Coach at SUNY Ulster for the 2021-2022 season. Prior to SUNY Ulster, Boland spent 2019-2021 as a Sports Medicine & Performance Athletic Trainer in the Houston Astros organization, before making the switch into coaching. The career switch started with a short stint as Volunteer Assistant coach at Army West Point, where he oversaw the pitching staff, followed by serving as the Associate Head Coach for the Watertown Rapids, in the Perfect Game Collegiate League.

Boland, a Rhinebeck, NY native, received a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from Marist College and an Associates Degree from Herkimer College, where he played in two Junior College World Series and received numerous academic and athletic awards, including All-American honors. Boland brings a strong background in player development, including having interned for Eric Cressey, the current Director of Player Health and Performance for the New York Yankees. Boland attended Red Hook High School, where he was an All-State baseball player before leaving to attend New England powerhouse Avon Old Farms Prep. He was team MVP at Avon Old Farms under Coach Rob Dowling.

SUNY Ulster Baseball defended their 2019 Region XV Baseball Championship in 2021 by knocking off SUNY Orange, before falling in the Eastern Sub-District Tournament.
