Box Score Ulster Men's soccer was back in action Tuesday night for the first time since their 2019 season ended.
The Senators traveled to New Rochelle, NY, to take on 10
th ranked NJCAA DIII opponent, Monroe-Bronx. It was a shaky start for the Senators who found themselves under constant pressure from a very fast and athletic Monroe side. Monroe took full advantage, scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes and adding a 4
th before halftime. The Senators battled hard in the second half and were rewarded with their first goal of the season on a shot from distance from midfielder
Modou Badjie (Kingston). Badjie's tenacity in the midfield was a big reason for the teams' improved second half performance.
Monroe-Bronx held the edge in overall shots 16-5 and shots on goal 10-2. Both teams finished with 3 corners and Ulster goalkeeper and captain
Justin Dunikowski (Wallkill) finished with 5 saves.
Monroe-Bronx improves to 1-0 on the season and SUNY Ulster falls to 0-1, with their conference play beginning at home on 9/15 vs SUNY Orange.
Next up for the Senators is a trip to New Jersey to face non-conference opponent Middlesex CC on Thursday 9/2 at 330pm, weather permitting.
