STONE RIDGE, NY – Coming off of a 7-0 victory in their conference opener against Dutchess Community College, SUNY Ulster men's soccer team traveled to Garden City, NY on Tuesday to take on non-conference opponent Nassau Community College Lions, where they would defeat the Lions by a score of 3-1.
Erick Alvarez would score the only goal of the first half at the 17:00 mark, assisted by
Anthony Murcia.
Javier Rodriguez would pick up where Alvarez left off, scoring two goals in the second half at the 52:00 and 90:00 marks. The Lions only score for the contest came at the 83:00 mark.
The two goals scored by Rodriguez gives him 11 total on the season, making him tied for second overall in NJCAA Division 2.

Cody Baker, who made a point blank save in the 85
th minute to secure our lead," said head coach
Jamal Lis-Simmons.
The Senators held the advantage over the Lions in total shots 12 to 9, shots on goal 8 to 5, and saves 4 to 1. The Lions finished with 8 corners to the Senators 4.
"It was a hard fought scrappy game," said Lis-Simmons. "It's always difficult to go on the road and win, especially against a tough opponent like Nassau, but our guys showed great character and resolve through the match and we're excited to come home with a big road win."
The Senators will travel to Middletown, NY on Thursday, September 15 to take on conference opponent Orange County Community College. Kickoff for that contest is 4 p.m. Senators are then back at home this Saturday, as they take on Monroe Express at Rondout Valley High School. Start time for that contest is 1 p.m.
