STONE RIDGE, NY – Men's soccer traveled to Middletown, NY on Wednesday, where they defeat conference foe Orange County Community College Colts, 5-1.
The Senators entered the scoring column immediately with a goal from
Anthony Murcia at the 1:00 mark. Murcia would score once again at the 14:00 mark, giving the Senators a 2-0 advantage over the Colts early.
Javier Rodriguez and
Modou Badjie would score for the Senators at the 23:00 and 29:00 marks respectively, increasing the lead to 4-0 going into the second half.
Dennis Cardenas would stretch the lead out to 5-0 in the second half, scoring at the 59:00 mark. Orange County scored their only goal of the contest at the 65:00 mark.
Senators held the advantage on total shots 22 to 5, shots on goal 15 to 2, and corners 12 to 1.
Cody Baker and
Eduardo Romero each had a save for the day. The win gives the Senators a (2-0) record in conference play, (5-1) overall.
"A good overall team performance to take us to 2-0 in conference play," said head coach
Jamal Lis-Simmons. "Everyone contributed to the win, with
Cody Baker and
Eduardo Romero splitting time in goal."
After completing their two game road trip, the Senators return home this Saturday, where they will host non-conference opponent Monroe Express 1 p.m. at Rondout Valley High School.
