STONE RIDGE, NY – Coming off of their 8-2 victory against Tompkins Cortland Community College in last Sunday's season opener, SUNY Ulster men's soccer team carried over the momentum into Saturday's non-conference matchup against Hudson Valley Community College, defeating the Vikings by a score of 6-2.
Hudson Valley would capture the first goal a minute into the contest. Senators would respond immediately with a 20-yard goal from
Modou Badjie during the 4:00 mark of the contest.
Javier Rodriguez would follow up a minute later with a goal of his own on a pinpoint pass from
Dantae McDonald. Rodriguez would go on to score 3 more times before the end of the half at the 17:00, 43:00, and 45:00 marks, giving the Senators a 5-1 advantage going into the second half. Badjie would score the final goal for the Senators at the 49:00 mark of the second half.
Senators held the edge on overall shots 20-6, shots on goal 13-3, and corners 10-2.
Cody Baker played all 90 minutes and finished with 2 saves for the day.
The Senators will return to action this Thursday on the road against Herkimer County Community College (Herkimer, NY). Opening kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
