SUNY Ulster Men's Soccer 2024

Men's Soccer | 9/4/2024 7:34:00 AM

It was a dominant first half performance by the Senators who were fast out the block scoring 4 goals in the first thirty minutes.  Captain, Imari Harris (Kingston) would open the scoring in the 15th minute, bending a beautiful left footed shot into the upper corner on an assist from EJ Lazo (Washingtonville).  Then in the 22nd minute, Mohamed Fadl (North Rockland) forced a turnover, saw the Suffolk keeper off his line and blasted a shot from 35 yards out into the top net.  Just three minutes later Andrew Foster (Kingston) would push his way through the backline and beat the keeper to give Ulster their third goal.  And 3 minutes later EJ Lazo (Washingtonville) made it 4-0 with a finish to the far corner on an assist from Mohamed Fadl (North Rockland).  Ulster would take the 4-0 lead into halftime.  Ulster pushed for more goals in the second half, but were unable to find the back of net.  Suffolk converted a penalty kick in the 70th minute and the game would end 4-1.  Ulster keeper Anthony Hernandez (Monroe-Woodbury) made 2 saves on the day.  This marks the first win over Suffolk in tenure of coach Jamal Lis-Simmons.  Suffolk had previously handed Ulster its only 2 losses last season.
Next up....The Senators open conference play vs Dutchess CC on Tuesday, September 10th.  Kickoff is 4pm on Ulster campus.
