For the second year in a row the Senators open the season with a win over national ranked Suffolk CC. The first half saw both teams create opportunities, Ulster would open the scoring in the 40th minute when
Andrew Foster (Kingston) beat the keeper on a ball over the top from
Max Maouris (Kingston). The Senators would strike again just two minutes later as Jack Moore (England) slotted it past the keeper on a floated ball in from Matt Urquia (Ellenville). Suffolk would get one back with seconds left in the first half and Ulster took a 2-1 lead into the break. The second half would again see both teams create opportunities. Ulster would make it 3-1 in the 66th minute when Caleb NIcolas (Washingtonville) forced a mistake and calmly beat the keeper with a left footed shot. Suffolk continued to press and push forward, they added their second goal in the 72nd minute on a well placed shot to the top corner. Both teams continued to battle over the next ten minutes. Ulster struck again in the 82nd minute with
Andrew Foster (Kingston) finding space on the wing and setting up Antony Pesantez (North Rockland) to give Ulster a 4-2 lead. The Senators continued to create opportunities and would make it 5-2 in the 86th minute when Mohamed Fadl (North Rockland) beat the keeper on another assist from
Andrew Foster (Kingston).
Santiago Saavedra (Pine Bush) started in goal for the Senators and made 4 saves on the day. The 5-2 victory marks Ulster's first win at Suffolk CC under Head Coach
Jamal Lis-Simmons.
Next up...The Senators are back on the road Tuesday, September 2nd to take on regional rival Monroe-Bronx for a 4pm kickoff.
