Gerardo Martinez

Gerardo Martinez joined Ulster in July of 2019.  He is tasked with building the Women's Soccer program at SUNY Ulster, which has been dormant since 2009.  Coach Gerardo Martinez has been coaching soccer competitively at the youth and collegiate level since 2008.

For the last 5 years Coach Martinez coached the girls’ soccer program in the Monticello and Ellenville School Districts in numerous capacities. During his tenure as the varsity girls’ soccer coach at Monticello the team quadrupled the number of wins from the previous season and was competitive against top teams in the section.

Prior to Monticello and Ellenville Coach Martinez was the Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach/Goalkeeping Coach at California Lutheran University (CLU), a Division III University located in California.  In his second season at CLU Coach Martinez helped the team win for the first time the SCIAC postseason tournament and the right to participate in the NCAA tournament for the first time in 15 years. Also under his tutelage during that winning season goalkeeper Jack Duncan earned First Team All-Conference honors.

From 2008 to 2013 Coach Martinez coached the boys’ soccer team at Saint Matthews Parish School in Pacific Palisades, California. During his stay the team won the Pacific Basin conference tittle in 2011 and 2012

Coach Martinez currently holds the Premier Diploma and the Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma through the United Soccer Coaches Association.

In 2014 Coach Martinez finished his Masters in Sport Psychology from California State University, Long Beach graduating with honors. Coach Martinez utilizes his studies of Sport Psychology to increase the performance of athletes on and off the field.

Coach Martinez lives with his wife Terese in Loch Sheldrake, NY.
