Dean Clarke and Liam Mckeon all scored second half goals to lead SUNY Ulster Men's Soccer to a come-from-behind victory over Hudson Valley on Tuesday.
Hudson Valley was the aggressor early on and was able to find the opening goal 22 minutes into the match to lead Ulster 1-0 at the break.
In the second half, SUNY Ulster came out firing. Only 6 minutes into the half,
Edgar Garcia (FDR) was able to find the equalizer as he turned and found space in the box off an assist from
Kelvin Nunez (Fallsburg).
Ulster would begin to find a rhythm from set pieces as they won the corner kick battle, 5-2, and carry momentum into a *4 goals in 11 minutes* charge. 4 minutes after the equalizer, Nunez would give Ulster the lead from Liam Mckeon (Onteora) in the 55th minute.
In the 60th minute, Nunez would find his brace off of Garcia's driven corner. Just 2 minutes later,
Dean Clarke (Wallkill) would power home a header after Nunez struck the crossbar.
Ulster would seal the deal in the 88th minute when
Rylie Lake (Ellenville) found Mckeon for an open net tap in. Ulster outshot Hudson Valley, 17-7 (9-2 on goal).
Justin Dunikowski (Wallkill) had little to do in goal for SUNY Ulster, collecting only 1 save.
SUNY Ulster, currently riding a 6-match unbeaten streak, will travel to Westchester on Saturday, October 12 with the top seed in the conference on the line. SUNY Ulster moves to 7-3-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
HVCC is now 5-6-2 on the season.
