Box Score Stone Ridge, NY — After more than 75 minutes of deadlock,
Josue Martinez (Saugerties) finally found the SUNY Ulster game winner after
Fernando Cuellar (New Paltz) delivered a low cross into the box to help the Senators defeat Sussex, 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Justin Dunikowski (Wallkill) was stellar in goal for SUNY Ulster as he came up big numerous times and kept the match level. Dunikowski made 6 saves and was a force in the air as he cut off countless Sussex aerial threats.
Sussex, who held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks, was most dangerous when building through the wings and looking to send service into the box.
Martinez, a second half substitute, took his chance when it arose. In the 78th minute, Cuellar found space behind the Sussex back line and delivered the perfect cross for Martinez to slip into the net for the eventual game winner.
The Senators, who were level on shots 12-12, move to 5-3-2 on the year, 2-0 in conference play. Sussex is now 6-3-2. Ulster is back in action as conference foe, Rockland, visits Dietz Stadium for a 630PM kickoff on Thursday, October 3rd.
