It's Somer time!
With the absence of starting middle hitter
Courtney Krom, Sophomore Captain
Victoria Somer dusted off her middle hitter skills and led Ulster to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-8) win over Bronx Community College. With the victory SUNY Ulster is now 5-1.
Somer contributed 7 kills, 10 digs and 3 aces but more important then the stats was her seamless switch of positions.
Hannah Gray made her first start of the year and didn't miss a beat with 5 digs, 2 aces and a kill.
Lauren Mahany played through a head cold and was solid all around with 14 assists, 8 digs, 5 aces and 3 kills. Already down a starter it would have been a much tougher win without Mahany there.
Rebecca Leach and
Mary Sommer contributed to the offense with steady hitting and 10 and 4 kills respectively. Leach also pitched in with 5 aces.
Ulster wraps up its toughest stretch of playing days with 4 victories
in 6 days. The players get a well deserved weekend off, but will be back at it Monday, preparing for conference rival and 2018 conference champion SUNY Westchester on the road next Thursday 9/26/19.
