Box Score Ulster was looking to bounce back after a loss to in their opening game of season just two days ago. Unfortunately they would come up short once again, this time losing to Montgomery 1-0 in double overtime. Despite only creating a few goal scoring opportunities, Ulster's hard work and determination kept them in the game and gave them a chance to win. The defending Maryland JUCO champs would show you're resolve scoring just two minutes into the second overtime. While the raptors had the better play throughout, Ulster continued to battle until the final minute. Ulster keeper Justin Dunikowski (Wallkill), again was solid in goal, keeping the game close with big saves throughout the match. He finished with 11 saves. Ulster coach Jamal Lis-Simmons had this to say after the game, "Very proud of our guys effort today, we came up just short, but that's a quality team. We have a lot to improve on, but If we can bring that energy and effort into our conference and regional play I like we'll be ok".
Ulster would finish the day with 2 shots on goal and 4 corners earned. Ulster is currently 0-2 and Montgomery is 3-0.
Ulster now has a week to prepare for their first conference game of the season next Saturday September 7th at home at 2pm against Dutchess CC. This will also be Ulster's alumni weekend with events including a coaching clinic Friday night, followed by Saturdays youth clinic, alumni game,Ulster vs Dutchess at 2pm, and capped off with a banquet in the evening honoring George Vizvary's Ulster legacy.
