Box Score

The SUNY Ulster Men's Soccer team picked up their first win of the season on the road at Middlesex County College.  In a game that went back and forth throughout, the Senators would miss a few early opportunities and the teams went into half time tied 0-0.  The second half however, would prove to be ver different.  SUNY Ulster would go down 1-0 in the 55th minute, but responded just 10 minutes later with some brilliant individual play from Modou Badjie (Kingston) who took a punt directly from keeper Justin Dunikowski (Wallkill), flicked it past a defender, beat two more and blasted it into the upper net for his second goal of the season.  Both teams continued to create opportunities and Middlesex would take a 2-1 lead on a diving header in the 75th minute.  Ulster was then dealt another blow as defender Edwin Cuesta (NFA) was issued a straight red card for retaliation in the 80th min.  Down a man, the Senators continued to battle and in the 83rd minute defender Odirlei Thomaz (NFA) floated a ball over the back line and Kawshar Biswas (Ellenville) chipped it past the keeper to tie the game 2-2. The game continued to be very physical and chippy, resulting in a Middlesex player being issued his second yellow and sent off in the in the 85th minute.  In total, the ref would issue 10 cards on the day.

With both teams down a man, SUNY Ulster continued to push forward looking for the winner.  In the 86th minute, a long throw from Nermin Ibric (Ellenville) would find Modou Badjie (Kingston) in the box who calmly finished it past the keeper for his second goal of the game giving Ulster a 3-2 lead.  Middlesex would push numbers forward in the final minutes, but Ulster held strong earning the 3-2 victory.

The Senators finished with 18 shots, 6 on goal and 5 corner kicks.  SUNY Ulster goalkeeper Justin Dunikowski (Wallkill) finished with 5 saves.

With the win, SUNY Ulster improves to 1-1 on the season.  The Senators are back in action on Thursday 9/9 for their first home game of the season vs Fulton Montgomery CC.  Kickoff is set for 4pm.
