Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Improves to 3-0 in Conference Play

STONE RIDGE, NY – Following their 2-1 victory against non-conference opponent Bryant & Stratton College on Tuesday, Men's Soccer returned to conference play on Saturday, taking on Westchester Community College.

Senators came out firing with 6 of their 15 total shots coming before the 25:00 min. Senators would finally capitalize during the 26:00 min on a goal from Frank Rodriguez assisted by Anthony Murcia. Modou Badjie would increase the lead to 2-0 at the 36:00 min on a penalty goal kick. Anthony Murcia would score the final goal of the half for the Senators during the 39:00 min, assisted by Andrew Morocho. Badjie would score the only goal of the second half for the Senators in the 88:00 min.

The shot matchup was pretty even between the two teams. Senators finished with 15 total shots to Westchester's 14. Westchester finished with 9 shots on goal to the Senators 8. Senators finished with 8 corner shots to Westchester's 3. Cody Baker had a total of 8 saves for the contest.

"A great team performance on the road," said head coach Jamal Lis-Simmons. "We dominated much of the possession throughout the match.  Our backline and goalkeeper, Cody Baker were solid all game, allowing most shots from 20+ yards away."

"Our front 3 players, Javi Rodriguez, Anthony Murcia, and Modou Badjie were dangerous all match," continued Lis-Simmons. "They did a great job combining to create scoring opportunities throughout the game."

With the victory, Ulster remains in first place in the conference at 3-0. This is the first victory at Westchester for the Senators since Jamal Lis-Simmons took over the program back in 2016.

The Senators will host Rockland Community College at Ulster Campus Thursday, October 6th, in what will be their last regular season conference game. With the win, Ulster will earn the right to host the Mid-Hudson Conference Championship game on Wednesday, October 19th.
