SUNY Ulster Baseball will host the NJCAA East District Championship this weekend at Cantine Field (Saugerties, NY). The tournament will be double elimination with games running from Friday, May 13^th to Sunday, May 15^th. The seeding in the tournament Is determined by who had the better overall record for the year.

Mercer County Community College enters the tournament as the #1 seed. Mercer County, who is coached by Fred Carella, finished the season with a 30-17 overall record. Mercer County defeated Lackawanna College on Tuesday to claim the Region XIX championship.

UCONN-Avery Point comes in as the #2 seed for the tournament. UCONN-Avery Point is coached by Ian Ratchford and finished with a 22-11-1 record for the year. UCONN-Avery Point swept Monroe Community College in a best of three to earn the right to compete in this weekend's tournament.

Ulster County Community College is the #3 seed for this weekend's tournament. Ulster County is coached by Aaron Brooks and finished with a 19-14 record for the year. Ulster County went 4-1 in the Region XV tournament, including four straight wins to claim their third straight Region XV championship.

Coming in at the #4 seed is Sullivan County Community College. Sullivan County is coached by Ryan Snair and finished the season with a 20-21 record. Sullivan County dropped two straight contests to the eventual champion Ulster County in the Region XV tournament. Sullivan County earned a spot in the tournament with their exceptional play in the Region XV tournament

The first game of the tournament will take place on Friday, May 13^th at 1:00pm. Sullivan County will take on UCONN-Avery Point followed by a 4:00pm matchup between Ulster County and Mercer County. The loser of Game 1 will take on the loser of Game 2 Saturday, May 14^th at 10:00am. The fourth game of the tournament will be between the winner of Game 1 and 2 from Friday's matchup. This contest will take place at 1:00pm followed by a 4:00pm matchup consisting of the winner from Saturday's 10:00am contest against the loser of Saturday's 1:00pm contest.

The winner of Saturday's 1:00pm matchup will face the winner of Saturday's 4:00pm matchup followed by a 2:00pm game if necessary. All games will take place at Cantine Field, Saugerties, NY.
